UPMC Passavant is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Technician to support the 4 South Surgical Stepdown Unit. You will provide direct patient care under RN direction, assist with ADLs, procedures, and therapies, and help with vital signs, telemetry, EKGs, and basic dressings.

Qualifications

• Direct patient care under RN direction with ADL support.
• Experience with vital signs, telemetry, EKGs and basic dressings.
• Ability to respond to patient needs and maintain infection control.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN direction, including assisting with ADLs, procedures, and therapies
• Perform core PCT responsibilities, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry application, specimen collection, bladder scans, EKGs, and basic dressings
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring)
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical tasks as needed
• Support unit operations by stocking supplies and assisting with department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, supporting team initiatives, and seeking opportunities for growth and development
• Respond to emergent situations and provide patient supervision or assistance

Position: Part-Time Patient Care Technician
Department: 4 South Surgical Stepdown Unit
Location: UPMC Passavant
Shifts: 24 hours per week; rotating coverage
Qualifications
Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19
