UPMC Passavant in Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior Patient Care Technician to join the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This full-time role supports RN-led care, monitors patients, and assists with ADLs and therapies, delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

Responsabilités

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring.
• Perform core PCT competencies: vital signs, telemetry, EKGs, specimen collection, and catheter removal.
• Assist with unit and patient needs including transport and monitoring of cardiac patients.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment following infection control and safety protocols.
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly.
• Document care and complete clerical functions as needed.
• Support unit operations and participate in department projects.
• Educate patients and families under RN direction and respond to emergent situations as appropriate.

Position: Full-Time Patient Care Technician, Senior
Department: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
Location: UPMC Passavant
Shifts: 40 hours per week; typically 4 10-hour shifts or 3 12-hour shifts, with the earliest shift starting at 4:30AM and the latest shift getting out at 6:30PM;
NO overnight, weekend, or holiday shifts required!

Title and rate of pay will be determined based upon individual qualifications, experience, and education. The minimum hourly starting rates for each level are as follows:

• Care Attendant: $18.19
• Nursing Assistant: $18.59
• Patient Care Technician: $18.99
• Patient Care Technician, Senior: $19.19

Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced patient care under RN direction, including ADLs, procedures, therapies, and patient monitoring
• Perform all core PCT competencies, including vital signs, point-of-care testing, telemetry, specimen collection, EKGs, bladder scans, dressings, catheter removal, and restraint application per protocol
• Assist with unit and patient needs (e.g., responding to call lights, meal delivery, patient transport, and monitoring), including transport of cardiac monitored patients
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment while following infection control and safety protocols
• Monitor patients and report changes in condition or equipment issues promptly
• Document care accurately and complete clerical functions as needed
• Support unit operations and quality initiatives, including participation in projects and department activities
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to support coordinated care
• Demonstrate professionalism by building positive relationships, taking ownership of assignments, and supporting team performance and improvement efforts
• Provide patient and family education under RN direction and respond to emergent situations as appropriate
