Job summary

Parkview Elementary in Salt Lake City, UT seeks a Paraprofessional I to assist teachers in general education classrooms. You will help supervise students, reinforce lesson plans, and provide clerical support to promote academic growth.

The role requires fingerprinting, background checks, and compliance with ESSA and district policies. Starting wage is $18.50 per hour with a 0.7375 FTE (up to 29.5 hours/week). Anticipated start is 11/23/2026.

Qualifications

• Fingerprinting and criminal background check required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ESSA qualified: multiple pathways (two years college, associative degree, or Parapro/PRAXIS/ParaPathways scores).
• Provide transcripts or diploma with application or contingent offer.
• CPR & First Aid within 2 months of hire.
• Annual Health Services Training required.
• English literacy: speaking, reading, writing.
• Basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios).
• Experience with standard office equipment and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom work under teacher direction to support lesson plans.
• Administer tests and proctor under supervision.
• Confer with teacher on progress and objectives.
• Implement learning and behavior plans aligned with IEPs.
• Monitor students in various settings to ensure safety and engagement.
• Provide classroom intervention to boost learning.
• Prepare materials, maintain records, and report progress.
• Administer first aid/CPR as needed and follow safety practices.
• Assist other staff to maintain efficient operations.
• Report incidents per policy and district procedures.
• Attend meetings and training opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality and adapt to changing priorities.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Two years at an accredited higher education institution (48 semester hours)

Associates (or higher) degree

Parapro/PRAXIS eligibility (score 460+)

ParaPathways Assessment (Reading 332, Math 334)

CPR & First Aid Certificate

Annual Health Services Training

English proficiency

Basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios)

Experience with Microsoft Office
