Job summary

The American School for the Deaf (ASD) in West Hartford, CT, is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for overnight coverage (3-4 nights/week). Position includes med administration, student care, and on-site health services for students and staff.

Requires CT RN license and CPR, with prior school-nurse experience preferred; sign-on bonus after one year. Responsibilities include documentation, emergencies, screenings, and field-trip support.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current Connecticut License as a Registered Nurse and CPR certification.
• Three years of prior school nurse experience preferred.
• Ability to use sign language or willingness to learn.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• $1000 sign on bonus after one year of service, not applicable for re-hires.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and document for all students.
• Assist Medical Consultant as needed.
• Address students' medical and emergent needs.
• Provide care for in-patient students.
• Conduct annual student screenings and documentation.
• Handle shift-change responsibilities and accompany students on field trips.
