Job summary

Oakland County Parks and Recreation seeks a Farm Guide to advance outdoor learning opportunities at Bowers School Farm in Bloomfield Hills. This limited to 1,000 hours/year position supports park activation through hands-on programs, field experiences, and events across nature centers, farms, and park facilities.

The ideal candidate will lead part-time staff and volunteers, work weekends/evenings/holidays, and utilize county software to plan and deliver engaging outdoor learning for residents

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Six months of full-time equivalent supervisory or administrative experience in parks, recreation, or program settings; or six months leadership in civic/club activities.
• Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions; lift heavy objects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to part-time staff and volunteers during programs, field experiences, and events.
• Design and support outdoor learning experiences across nature centers, farms, and park facilities.
• Deliver high-quality, hands-on learning experiences to foster curiosity and stewardship.
• Work weekends, evenings, and holidays; use county software to plan and complete assignments.
