Job summary

Montachusett Community Branch YMCA is seeking an OST Educator to create a safe, engaging program for youth before and after school. You will plan developmentally appropriate activities, support health and safety, and uphold YMCA child protection policies.

Under the School Aged Child Care Director, you’ll supervise groups, build positive relationships with youth and families, and contribute to a welcoming, inclusive program environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
• Previous experience working with children (at least 6 months) required.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required; or within 60 days of hire.
• Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children and program activities.
• Follows all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law or the Y; maintains the program site and records.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Creates a positive rapport with youth and models relationship-building skills.
• Provides opportunities for youth to lead, problem-solve, and reflect on experiences.
• Communicates with parents and connects families to the Y.
• Maintains professional image and attendance; serves as a role model.
• Attends family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
