Job summary

Point Quest Group is seeking an Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year in the Houston, TX area. The role is part-time (20 hrs/week) and in-person at school sites.

Responsibilities include evaluating students’ O&M needs, providing instruction in safe travel, and supporting IEP goals, with collaboration across educators and families. Travel between campuses is required.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist credential or applicable state authorization.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in orientation and mobility, visual impairments, or a related field.
• Experience working with students across multiple grade levels preferred.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills.
• Ability to travel between school sites and provide instruction in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate students’ orientation and mobility needs in school and community environments.
• Provide individualized instruction in safe and independent travel skills.
• Teach skills involving spatial awareness, sensory efficiency, route planning, and cane use.
• Develop, implement, and monitor orientation and mobility goals within students’ IEPs.
• Recommend environmental modifications and mobility supports.
• Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired, families, educators, and related service providers.
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary evaluations.
• Maintain accurate documentation and monitor student progress.
• Travel between assigned schools and instructional environments as needed.
