Job summary

TheraPeds Partners seeks a part-time, on-site Orientation and Mobility Specialist for a Laurel, MS school. The role delivers direct O&M services, conducts assessments, develops IEPs, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree; COMS Certification; 1 year school experience; fingerprint clearance; strong communication skills. 20 hours per week, 2026-2027 school year, on-site position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree in Orientation & Mobility, Vision Studies, or related field preferred.
• COMS Certification (ACVREP) required or preferred.
• 1 year of experience in a school setting preferred.
• Experience working with children with visual impairments.
• Knowledge of orientation and mobility assessments and instruction.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and assess IEPs for students with disabilities.
• Deliver instruction tailored to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
• Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists for a comprehensive approach.
• Assess school campuses for travel safety.
• Recommend environmental modifications.
• Plan safe travel routes around the school.
• Monitor student progress and adapt instructional strategies.
