Texas American Federation of Teachers (AFT) seeks reliable Part-Time Organizers to support the growth of a self-sustaining local union. The PTO will implement a strategic organizing plan and meet goals set with the program coordinator and local leadership.
Responsibilities include recruiting members, coordinating with the PTO Program Coordinator, conducting worksite and campus visits, and maintaining detailed records of conversations and progress.
Texas American Federation of Teachers (AFT) is seeking reliable Part-Time Organizers. A Part-Time Organizer (PTO) provides and important function to assist growing a self-sustaining local union. Texas AFT local affiliates have implemented programs for many years to identify and to develop part-time organizers. The PTO will be the key person to implement a strategic organizing plan and work to meet expectations and goals outlined by the program's coordinator in conjunction with local union leadership.
The PTO will report directly to the Texas AFT PTO Program Coordinator. Applicants should have a working knowledge of unions and a commitment to the labor movement. Some organizing experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
