Job summary

The MedServ Group is seeking a Part-Time Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care in a nursing home setting. You will perform routine and medical exams, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, and collaborate with healthcare staff to enhance residents’ visual health and quality of life.

Ideal candidates hold an OD from an accredited program with an active license and experience with geriatric patients; EMR experience is a plus.

Qualifications

OD degree from an accredited institution.
Current state optometry license in good standing.
Experience with geriatric populations preferred.
Strong clinical diagnostic and patient care skills.
Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with EMR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for nursing home residents.
Diagnose and manage ocular conditions common in elderly patients.
Prescribe eyeglasses as needed.
Maintain accurate electronic medical records and complete documentation promptly.
Educate residents on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment compliance.
Follow VA policies, HIPAA regulations, and federal healthcare standards.
