Job summary
The MedServ Group is seeking a Part-Time Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care for residents in a nursing home and long-term care setting. The role involves routine and medical eye examinations, diagnosing ocular conditions, and prescribing eyeglasses as needed.
The Optometrist will maintain accurate EMR records, collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, follow HIPAA and federal standards, and operate as an independent contractor (1099). Flexible part-time schedule offered.
Qualifications
- OD degree from an accredited institution.
- Current state optometry license in good standing.
- Experience with geriatric populations preferred.
- Strong clinical diagnostic and patient care skills.
- Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for nursing home residents.
- Diagnose and manage common eye conditions (cataracts, glaucoma, etc.).
- Prescribe eyeglasses as needed.
- Maintain accurate EMR records and documentation promptly.
- Educate patients on eye health, prevention and treatment compliance.
- Follow VA policies, HIPAA regulations, and federal healthcare standards.
