Job summary

TheraPeds Partners in Republic, MO is seeking a part-time, on-site Orientation Mobility Specialist to serve PreK–12 students. The role includes direct services, assessments, IEP development, progress evaluation, and collaboration with therapists, educators, and parents.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree (graduate degree preferred) in Orientation & Mobility or related field, COMS certification preferred or required, and experience in schools with visually impaired students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree in Orientation & Mobility, Vision Studies, or related field preferred.
• COMS Certification (ACVREP) required or preferred.
• 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred.
• Experience working with children with visual impairments.
• Knowledge of orientation and mobility assessments and instruction.
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Proficient in use of technology.
• Fingerprint background clearance.
• Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with tact and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and assess individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
• Deliver instruction tailored to meet diverse learning styles and needs.
• Collaborate with parents, educators, and specialists to support student learning.
• Assess school campuses for travel safety.
• Recommend environmental modifications and safe travel routes.
• Monitor progress and adapt instructional strategies to improve outcomes.
• Provide one-on-one or small group instruction.
• Tailor lessons based on students' vision level and mobility needs.
• Adjust strategies for students with additional disabilities.
• Maintain records of student performance, behavior, and progress.
