Job summary

Longwood University in Farmville, VA is seeking a Printing Technician to operate digital printing presses and bindery equipment in the Printing Services department. The role requires in-person work on campus and focuses on delivering high-quality printed materials for faculty, staff, and students.

This is a part-time, non-exempt wage position with an hourly range of $16.83–$20.00. Hours vary up to 29 per week and up to 1,500 hours per year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Extensive customer service experience.
• Experience with Mac computers.
• Working knowledge of general printing practices to prepare for digital reproduction.
• Extensive computer experience including MS Office, required; Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Suite, preferred.
• Experience with wide format equipment such as Roland XR-640 or an approved equivalent.
• Knowledge of wide format production, mechanical assembly, and sign/banner manufacturing.
• Ability to provide weekly preventative maintenance including calibration, cleaning, oiling, etc., of existing equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Forklift training desired but can be provided once hired
• Experience operating printing equipment to include digital presses, bindery equipment, digital engraver, high-speed printers, and copiers, preferred
• Ability to sit and or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple tasks and priorities

Responsibilities

• Prepare documents, complex reports, brochures, and multi-colored documents for digital reproduction
• Operate digital printing presses
• Operate digital engraver
• Maintain web-based digital ordering system
• Communicate with customers on projects, providing excellent customer service
• Provide operational support to customers as needed to ensure the successful completion of projects
• Process financial transactions in accordance with university policies and procedures, including operating the cash register and handling deposits
• Operate bindery equipment (perfect binder, stitcher, spiral binding machine, padding press) and fulfillment equipment (booklet maker, drill press, cutter)
• Maintain proficiency in fulfilling orders as well as completing orders by the scheduled due date
• Other duties as assigned
