General Function
The Office Support Assistant serves as receptionist and information clerk by determining purpose of contact, providing general information, assisting in preparation of forms, directing individuals to proper destinations, receiving and distributing messages, scheduling appointments, maintains office equipment and supply inventory, processes and distributes mail, creates and edits materials which may contain technical or specialized terminology, and carries out assigned responsibilities within established guidelines.
Description of Primary Duties
Serves as receptionist or information clerk, determining purpose of contact, providing general information and assisting in preparation of forms.
Directing individuals to proper destination, receiving and distributing messages and scheduling or arranging appointments.
Creates and edits a variety of material, which may contain technical or specialized terminology, reviews documents for accuracy and completeness.
Maintains office equipment and supply inventory, maintains records relating to receipt and issuance of materials or equipment.
Processes and distributes mail according to established procedures; prepares material for mailing utilizing automated equipment when applicable.
Receives general supervision from a designated supervisor, carries out assigned responsibilities independently within established guidelines.
Minimum Acceptable Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. General office experience including keyboarding and data entry is required. Knowledge of and the ability to use computerized management information systems is required. The ability to learn and follow complex procedures and detailed policies is required. Experience working with military connected students and knowledge of policies/procedures for certifying benefits is preferred.
