Job summary

Foothill Family in El Monte, CA seeks a part-time Nutrition Specialist for the Early Head Start program to ensure compliant, culturally relevant nutrition services. You will coordinate with the Health Manager, train staff and families, and support healthy eating initiatives for children including those with disabilities.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Nutrition and at least two years of related experience, with CPR/First Aid certification within six months.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related field.
• At least 2 years of nutrition education experience.
• Experience with infants and children 0-5, pregnant and postpartum individuals.
• Effective communication with diverse populations.
• Must obtain CPR and First Aid within 6 months of employment.
• Valid CA driver’s license or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Promote Foothill Family’s mission and nutrition services.
• Provide nutrition information through direct/indirect consultation and trainings.
• Respond to referrals with plans and education for families and staff.
• Track referrals, action plans and follow-ups; report monthly.
• Train staff and partners on nutrition topics and feeding best practices.
• Develop/update nutrition policies, forms, and monitoring systems.
