Job summary

Summit Medical Group is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a part-time position in East Tennessee. The role begins with 3 days per week, with potential to move to 4 days. Work hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, onsite with the physician team.

Successful candidates will have NP or PA training and Tennessee licensure, plus clinic-based patient care experience. Wellness program participation and competitive benefits are highlighted by the employer.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
• Minimum of three years of previous patient care experience in a clinic setting.
• Two years of APN or PA experience is preferred.
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse in Tennessee, or licensed as a Physician Assistant in Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Manages acute and long-term medical needs of patients in collaboration with physician.
• Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information.
• Orders (and, as appropriate, performs) laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
• Determines preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic plans by obtaining, interpreting and integrating data.
• Posts tests and examination results as appropriate.
• Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments, educates patients/family regarding health and illness prevention, and recommends community resources.
• Assists physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
• Triages nursing and family telephone calls and provides consultation.
