Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, is seeking a part-time Nocturnist Surgical Physician Assistant to join the Surgical Services Team. The role focuses on night coverage, evaluation of surgical patients, and perioperative management within General Surgery and subspecialties.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited PA program, eligible for MA licensure, and possess NCCPA certification, with DEA and MA Controlled Substance Registration eligibility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Eligible to be licensed as a Certified Physician Assistant in Massachusetts.
• Current federal DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration eligibility will be required.
• Certification by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
• Experience in the acute care/surgical setting or completion of a Postgraduate Surgical Residency program.

Responsibilities

• Provide night coverage for the General Surgical Service.
• Evaluate surgical patients and interact with Multidisciplinary Hospital Staff.
• Assist in all aspects of patient care including ER evaluation, admission and perioperative management.
• First assisting in the operating room as needed.
