Position: Surgery Night ED Admissions
Hours: 36 hours - 7P - 7A
Shift: Night - weekend, holiday rotation
Location: St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, MA
Responsibilities
- Under the general supervision and direction of the Surgical Hospitalist Physician or designee, conduct a wide variety of patient care and related duties in support of SPG Surgeons overnight.
- Position will function as first call for all emergency department consults with physician back-up primarily for Surgical Specialties to include urology, general surgery, plastics, breast & thoracic.
- Conduct rounds as needed for IP General Surgery specialties.
- Overnight APP coverage for St. Luke's Hospital, New Bedford, MA.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in a related field is required. Graduate of an A.M.A.-approved Physician Assistant program is required.
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Physician Assistant is required. Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science Degree in Nursing is required.
- Certification from a National accrediting body to practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required.
- Current Massachusetts R.N. registration is required. Nurse Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required.
- Knowledge and skill of orthopedic disorders and treatments is required.
- Surgical First Assistant certification required upon hire
- Skill in operating medical equipment, a variety of software applications and multiple projects is required AND/OR Nurse Practitioner is required.
- One year experience required as an Advanced Practice Practitioner
- Practitioner Certificate/Physician Assistant Certificate is required.
- Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants within one year of hire is required.
- Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac support standards is required.
- Eligible for state and federal controlled substances registration.
