Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Spec Patient Access LOR to handle admitting duties for patients at Mercy Health. You will work nights and weekends as part of a rotating schedule, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information and guiding patients through consent and payment processes.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, customer service, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Prior experience in patient access is preferred; CHAA certification is optional.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-year/Associates degree preferred.
• Combination of post-secondary education and experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Assign MRNs, perform medical necessity checks, collect insurance data, and process orders.
• Operate telephone switchboard and maintain customer service standards.
• Audit accounts and provide statistical data to leadership.
• Pre-register patient accounts and collect point-of-service payments.
• Explain consent forms and distribute patient education documents.
• Check insurance eligibility and enter benefit data to support billing.
• Screen for medical necessity using ABN software and distribute forms.
• Answer phones at applicable facilities.
