Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a part-time Music Instructor at the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Philadelphia, PA. This role requires evenings and weekend commitments, up to 10 hours weekly, with immediate availability and reporting to the Performing Arts Manager.

The salary is listed as $35.00 per hour. The instructor will provide music and arts instruction, support department events, and participate in promotional activities for the center’s programs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and at least one year formal music training and brass experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong program development skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in English.
• Professional handling of difficult situations.
• Safety conscious.
• Must complete PA Act 153 Mandated Reporter training prior to employment with ongoing training every five years.
• Meets PA Act 153 Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
• Understanding and appreciation for The Salvation Army mission statements.

Responsibilities

• Plans and provides music and/or arts instruction to members and nonmembers of the Kroc Center under the direction of the PAM, coordinating with community partners and other opportunities.
• Supports Performing Arts Department events including concerts, festivals, recitals, competitions, camps, conservatory, and Sunday services as needed.
• Provides instruction within the Kroc Center music and arts program.
• Assists with promotion of the Kroc Center Performing Arts Ministries.
• Assists with music creation or acquisition for various programs at the Kroc Center.
• Tracks and submits attendance sheets.
• Instructs students in equipment maintenance and usage.
• Must be available to lead students onsite in the evenings 3 days a week and attend concerts/events.
