The Salvation Army in Kansas City, MO is seeking a part-time music program leader to work with children and adults in the corps and community. You will plan weekly music lessons, implement curriculum, and coordinate recitals and community performances.

You will inspire participants to develop musical skills, support the corps mission, and participate in summer programs. The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude, with light travel and occasional evening events.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in music preferred, or extensive experience teaching music.
• Experience: A minimum of two years’ music experience working with children / adults. Performance experience is preferred.
• Certifications/Licenses: None
• Demonstrated proficiency in music theory and in a primary instrument.
• Personal knowledge of music, including performance, education, and theory.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Must be a team player, self-starter, and follow through with assignments until completion.
• A positive attitude and the ability to be flexible in light of changing job situations / priorities.
• A strong commitment to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsabilités

• Lead music and other arts programs within the corps as assigned and plan weekly music classes.
• Plan and attend all recitals and represent the corps music programs at year-end concerts.
• Encourage participants to develop musical abilities and self-esteem through achievement.
• Organize musical performances and community activities to raise awareness of the corps’ mission.
• Support summer camp participation and divisional music camps when applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
