Job summary

The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Chicago seeks a part-time General Music Instructor to deliver introductory group music classes for ages 6-14, develop curriculum, and build community partnerships.

The role emphasizes exploring basic musical concepts, using Kodaly, Dalcroze, or Orff methods, and supporting the Arts & Education Department under the Gospel & Music Fine Arts Manager. A Bachelor's in Music and teaching experience are required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Music or equivalent performance experience.
Three years teaching experience; five years preferred.
Experience in curriculum development.

Responsibilities

Teach group music lessons for the Kroc after-school program and summer day camp.
Design and implement curriculum, assessments, and lesson plans; report to Music and Gospel Fine Arts Manager.
Develop partnerships with schools and organizations for music programming.
Participate in recruitment and outreach efforts.
Attend assigned staff meetings.
Willing to teach additional classes and workshops as needed.
