Job summary

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is seeking a part-time Museum Security Officer to ensure safety and visitor experience through continuous patrols and enforcing museum rules. The role focuses on welcoming visitors, guiding them, and protecting the collection on campus.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, strong communication, and dependable customer service. CPR/AED training is provided via RISD. Work is on campus with some training outside regular hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and dependable customer service skills.
• CPR/AED course completion via Museum training is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide routine protection of galleries and visitors through continuous patrols and enforcing museum rules.
• Assist visitors with inquiries, wayfinding, and safety.
• Report missing or damaged artwork and communicate collection safety rules to visitors.
• Escort contractors to ensure adherence to safety guidelines within museum operations.
• Provide initial response during emergencies (fire, medical, security) and assist with evacuations as needed.
• Attend required training, including sessions outside regular hours.
