Job summary

Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library is seeking a Part-Time Interim Custodian to maintain cleanliness of the facility and grounds in a friendly work environment. The role involves routine cleaning and assisting the supervisor with daily operations as needed.

Responsibilities include sanitizing areas, restroom upkeep, floor care, event setup, and trash/recycling duties. Physical tasks include lifting up to 50 pounds and outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass background, substance, and credit checks.
• Ability to work outdoors including in adverse weather.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
• Ability to pick up and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and sanitizing public, staff and high-traffic areas.
• Cleaning and maintaining restrooms and replenishing supplies.
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and providing routine floor care.
• Regular dusting and removal of cobwebs.
• Clean windows.
• Assist with set up and tear down furniture for events.
• Emptying trash and recycling.
• Clean stainless-steel appliances and sinks in kitchens (as needed).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
