Job summary

The Peabody Essex Museum is seeking a part-time Security Gallery Officer to safeguard PEM's collections and assist visitors. This 24-hour-per-week role requires a calm, professional demeanor and the ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Training and uniforms are provided. A background in security, criminal justice, or customer service is preferred, and a Massachusetts driver's license is helpful for off-site assignments on the North Shore.

Qualifications

• Part-time role: 24 hours per week in a gallery security setting.
• Weekend, holiday, and evening shifts required.
• Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Prior experience in security, criminal justice, or customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce museum security policies to protect PEM's collections, exhibits and property.
• Safeguard and assist visitors and staff within and around the museum complex.
• Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or conflicts.
