Job summary

Worcester Public Schools is seeking experienced translators and/or interpreters to communicate essential information between staff and families. The role includes translating school documents and interpreting at meetings, with emphasis on Special Education terminology and formatting accuracy.

Positions can be as translators, interpreters, or both. Flexibility to schedule; some remote work, in-person at schools; up to 19.5 hrs/week; travel between buildings may be required during the day.

Qualifications

• Advanced proficiency in English and target language; accurate written translation.
• Ability to translate terminology used in IEPs, assessments, and Special Education docs.
• Candidate must translate ≥350 words per hour.
• Must format documents to preserve original layout in Word/Docs.
• Successful testers in terminology and formatting required.

Responsibilities

• Provide translations of school documents in a timely manner.
• Offer interpretation at meetings between staff and families.
• Maintain ethics and standards of practice in interpretation/ translation.
• Work remotely or in-person per assignment; travel between buildings as needed.
