Spangler’s Market in San Francisco's West Portal neighborhood is seeking a part-time Manager on Duty (MOD) to help lead daily store operations. The role bridges departments, customers, and upper management, supporting front-line staff and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

The ideal MOD has 2+ years of grocery/retail operations experience, familiarity with POS or inventory systems, and multitasking ability for opening/closing duties while upholding service standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2+ years of experience in grocery (or similar retail) operations.
• Prior experience in buying and receiving is preferred.
• Familiarity with POS or inventory systems.

Responsibilities

• Engages the customer in a friendly manner, shares product information, and assists in locating products throughout the store.
• Guides the work of others, ensures staff complete daily opening/closing checklists, plans and assigns work.
• Maintains cash handling, register, and return procedures; processes returns as needed.
• Counts cash, prepares drawers, and monitors cash flow during opening/closing tasks.
• Maintains awareness of ads, promotions, and events; trains new staff and ensures corporate standards.
