NY Common Pantry in The Bronx, NY seeks a Mobile Pantry Part-Time Commodities Associate to support food distribution at mobile sites and the warehouse. The role involves packing, loading, and coordinating with staff to ensure smooth operations up to 28 hours per week.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with hand truck/pallet jack required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Certification in Food Safety Handling by NYC Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene.
• Proficiency in English/Spanish or English/Mandarin/Cantonese a plus.
• Comfortable working with diverse populations.
• Strong multitasking and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Train and support volunteers to assemble pantry packages and ensure adherence to guidelines.
• Provide excellent customer service while facilitating Mobile Pantry operations off-site.
• Control flow of clients at mobile sites and resolve member issues.
• Ensure distribution protocols are followed by staff and volunteers.
• Work with Mobile Pantry staff, Drivers and Commodities Associates to pack food packages.
• Inventory maintenance and proper storage with stock rotation at the Hunts Point warehouse.
• Set up packing areas and distribution space before operations start.
• Load/unload vans/trucks and track commodities sent out/returned.
