Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN, seeks a part-time Medical Laboratory Scientist II for the Core Laboratory to execute and supervise test life-cycle activities, ensure quality control, and support specimen handling and distribution.

You will collaborate with clinicians, participate in research and development, and help plan verification/validation for new equipment and assays while maintaining compliance with safety and CLIA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology/medical lab science or in one of the biological, chemical, or physical sciences and completion of a medical laboratory technologist training program required.
• Master’s degree in Clinical Lab Science preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute and oversee test life-cycle activities and aspects within own area (execution, validation, and reporting of medical lab results).
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to discuss test results and provide necessary support and guidance.
• Participate in research and development activities, staying updated on advancements in laboratory techniques and technologies/procedures.
• Perform verification and validation planning for new equipment and assays.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, conduct quality control, troubleshoot issues, and perform routine maintenance.
• Support ongoing lab inventory planning, monitoring, and management.
• Oversee compliance with safety and infection control protocols within own area.
• Maintain accurate documentation of test procedures, results, and quality control data.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet department goals and objectives.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology/medical lab science

Master’s degree in Clinical Lab Science (preferred)
