Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking a Temporary Research Technician in the CAES-Food Science & Technology department to support microbiology research on blueberry harvester surfaces and citrus waste extracts. This non-exempt position is based in the Griffin area with a Monday-Friday schedule and an anticipated start date of 08/31/2026.

The role requires a Ph.D. in food safety or microbiology with 5 years of lab experience, knowledge of foodborne pathogens, and proficiency with routine

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in food safety or food microbiology with 5 years of experience in microbiology labs.
• Knowledge of foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms.
• Ability to operate microbiological and chemical analytic equipment and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Assess microbial load on surfaces of modified blueberry machine harvesters.
• Evaluate antimicrobial activities of citrus waste extracts.
• Work in Level II biosafety laboratories as required.
