Job summary

McHenry County College is seeking a part-time biology lab assistant to support the set-up and take-down of micro labs, moving specimens to and from incubators, and helping instructors with activities. The role requires attention to detail and reliable attendance.

You will prepare materials, maintain lab cleanliness, restock supplies, label samples, and ensure safe handling of biological materials in accordance with college guidelines and state regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Ability to frequently bend, stretch, and lift.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lab materials, specimens, and equipment for scheduled classes and experiments
• Set up and clean lab benches, glassware, and instruments before and after use
• Restock supplies and assist with inventory of chemicals, models, and tools
• Label and organize samples, slides, and biological materials as directed
• Follow all safety procedures and assist in maintaining compliance with lab safety protocols
• Dispose of biological waste properly in accordance with college and state guidelines
• Assist faculty and staff with special projects, demonstrations, or events related to the biology program
