Job summary

University of South Carolina Upstate seeks a Microbiology Laboratory Assistant to support undergraduate teaching laboratories. You will help set up and take down weekly lab activities, wash and organize glassware, and maintain a clean biology preparation room.

Preference will be given to science majors who have completed at least one college-level laboratory science course. Schedule is around the student’s academic calendar, part-time 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a student.
• Must have completed at least one college-level laboratory science course.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and attentive to detail.
• Must be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative and self-direction.

Responsibilities

• Assist in setting up and taking down weekly microbiology lab activities.
• Wash and organize glassware and reusable equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly biology preparation room.
• Follow supervisor instructions and work independently with limited supervision.
