Job summary

Pinnacle GI Partners in Troy is seeking a part-time Medical Receptionist for our Troy/Macomb surgery centers. Occasional travel between locations is required with advanced schedule assignments. We are willing to train candidates with relevant medical experience.

The role supports front desk operations, patient check-in, scheduling, and coordination with RNs. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and basic medical terminology knowledge; CPR certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and CPT and ICD-9 coding preferred.
• Previous front office experience in a medical practice environment preferred.
• Current CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers the telephone, triages calls appropriately and takes messages when needed.
• Obtains and verifies patient demographic and financial information.
• Answers questions as able, referring clinical questions to RNs or Clinical Coordinator.
• Enters/verifies patient information in the computer system.
• Completes all necessary insurance information.
• Processes and prepares the outgoing mail.
• Performs health record audits and/or assists as required with authorizations.
• Schedules follow-up appointments, outpatient procedures and tests and makes referrals to physicians as necessary.
• Requests medical records/reports from referring physicians.
• Mails/faxes prep brochures and other materials to patients as necessary.
