Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required.
• Certification in clinical laboratory science or eligibility required.
• Clinical Laboratory Science certification within 1 year of hire is expected.

Responsibilities

• Maintains technical competency related to job functions.
• Understands LIS functions and performs downtime procedures effectively.
• Evaluates each procedure and chooses appropriate techniques.
• Identifies and resolves problems that may affect test results and notifies appropriate personnel.
• Determines specimen acceptability by visual inspection and recognizing abnormal results.
• Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy.
• Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel.
• Assesses job functions and takes action when problems are detected.
• Identifies problems with specimens, test orders, and registration and takes action.
• Handles troubleshooting professionally and communicates with coworkers and customers when delays occur.
• Utilizes complex problem-solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
