Job summary

UF Health Leesburg Hospital in Leesburg, FL is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. This part-time role supports the laboratory operations with blood specimen collection and specimen processing.

The schedule is 20 hours per week, including weekends, with shifts from 8:00am to 8:00pm. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED and English proficiency; phlebotomy certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or GED
• Preferred: Phlebotomy Certification
• Must read, write, speak and understand English

Responsibilities

• Perform skin punctures to obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing.
• Prompt accurate processing of test requisitions, accurate charging, registering and ordering tests for outpatients, informing techs of stats and other timed or urgent testing.
• Telephone patients, physicians and nursing units when required.
• Maintain neat and organized collection trays, collection areas and work areas.
• Demonstrate professional behaviors under demanding and stressful conditions.
