Job summary

Beartooth Billings Clinic is seeking a Medical Coder II in Red Lodge, MT for 20 hours per week as a part-time, non-exempt role. The coder will review medical records to assign codes for procedures, diagnoses, and services used for insurance reimbursement and statistics.

The position requires 3+ years of coding experience, HS diploma or equivalent, and relevant certifications (AAPC or AHIMA). Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s degree and advanced coding credentials.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification: CPC, CCS, or CCA from AAPC/ AHIMA or equivalent.
• Experience: 3+ years of relevant coding experience.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree in health-related field.
• Additional Certifications: COC, CIC, CRC, CPMA, CEMC.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret medical records to assign codes for procedures, diagnoses, and services.
• Ensure codes support insurance reimbursement and accurate patient records.
• Collaborate with providers, insurers, and billing to resolve coding issues.
