Job summary

Independence Health System is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant for the Primary Care Chicora location. The role involves direct patient care under the supervision of a nurse or physician, including lab tests, treatments, and immunizations, alongside clerical duties and patient data entry.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, strong organizational and communication skills, and familiarity with MS Office. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered for this outpatient role.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/ GED or higher
• Strong leadership ability, organiz. skills, independent thinking, sound judgment
• Strong ability to communicate complex topics to a wide audience
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Outlook and Excel

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care per policies and protocols
• Collect patient health data (VS, weight, chief complaint, pain)
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures
• Document accurately and timely
• Enter demographic and insurance information into billing system
• Enter diagnosis-based codes and charges into billing system
• Provide education and counseling to patients pre- and post-examination
• Assist in clerical/patient-care duties and maintain clean exam rooms
• Ensure infection control and safety standards are followed
• Travel between Independence Health locations as needed
