Job summary

Independence Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform direct patient care, assist with lab tests, treatments, and immunizations under supervision. You will collect patient data, prepare exam rooms, and support both clinical and clerical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, strong communication, and attention to safety and infection control. Outpatient experience is preferred and a sign-on bonus is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or next level of higher education.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
• Strong ability to communicate complex topics to a wide and diverse audience.
• Previous outpatient office experience (preferred).
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or 1 year of MA experience OR Certified EMT/Paramedic per NREMT (preferred).
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care per policies and protocols.
• Collect patient data including vital signs and weight.
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
• Enter and verify patient demographics and insurance information.
• Enter diagnosis codes and charges into billing system.
• Provide pre- and post-examination education and counseling.
• Maintain infection control and safety standards.
• Assist in clerical tasks and office support.
