Job summary

Forefront Dermatology is seeking a Medical Assistant for a part-time role, Wed-Fri 7:00a-4:45p. The essential duties include rooming patients, assisting the dermatologist, wound care, drawing blood, suture removal, and managing exam rooms.

You will support various dermatology procedures and ensure an efficient, friendly patient environment. Qualifications include CMA/LPN/RN with ongoing state certifications; 1+ year medical office experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN required; non-certified MAs must complete Forefront Derm Tech certification within the prescribed time and maintain certification
• 1+ years of recent medical office experience preferred
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses, and registrations
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and EMR systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work well both individually and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Room patients and document all vital information
• Scribe information for the dermatologist
• Provide post-op wound care to patients
• Draw blood and perform suture removal
• Clean and stock the exam rooms
• Schedule patient appointments
• Assist the dermatologist with procedures such as surgical photographs, biopsies, excisions, electrodessication and curettage, I&D
• Perform Mohs micrographic surgery prep, phototherapy, injections, Koh preps, trichograms, tzank preps, dermabrasion, patch testing, blue light

Summary: The Medical Assistant is essential during the patient visit, accompanying the dermatologist in the room and promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave
• Excisions
• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education: Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
