Job summary

Forefront Dermatology in Virginia is seeking a Medical Assistant to support dermatologists during patient visits. You will room patients, document vital signs, assist with sterile procedures, and help maintain a friendly, efficient clinic environment.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of medical office experience, CMA/LPN/RN certification is preferred, and you must be willing to travel to other clinic locations.

Qualifications

• Minimum post-high-school education in a medical support field; CMA, LPN, or RN.
• Non-Certified Medical Assistants must complete Forefront Derm Tech certification.
• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office preferred.
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations.
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and document vital information.
• Scribe information for the dermatologist.
• Provide post-op wound care to patients.
• Draw blood and perform suture removal.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms; schedule appointments.
• Assist dermatologist with procedures including biopsies, Mohs surgery, injections.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

• Rooming patients and documents all vital information
• Scribing information for the dermatologist
• Providing post op wound care to patients
• Drawing blood and suture removal
• Cleaning and stocking the exam rooms
• Scheduling patient appointments

Assisting the dermatologist with procedures such as:

• Surgical photographs
• Biopsies – punch, DIF and shave
• Excisions
• Electrodessication and curettage
• I&D
• Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgery
• Phototherapy
• Injections
• Koh preps
• Trichograms
• Tzank preps
• Dermabrasion
• Patch testing
• Blue light

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum post high-school education in a medical support field: Certified Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse (Non-Certified Medical Assistants will need to complete the Forefront Derm Tech certification program within the prescribed time period and maintain certification upon expiration).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• 1+ years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant, DERM Tech a plus
• Must keep current on all state certifications, licenses and/or registrations to continue employment
• Must be willing to travel to other clinic locations as needed
• Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record systems
• Must possess organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff, clients, and visitors
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team
