Job description

This is a part-time position responsible for processing, packaging, and stocking meat products according to Meat Standards, cleaning work areas, providing customer service, unloading stock, and reloading salvage. The role also includes performing duties of a seafood clerk when assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED; or
• One to three months of related experience and/or training; or
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
• Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and associates who speak only English.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and perform operations using units of American money and weight measurement.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Complete company training including new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, hear, and taste or smell.
• Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
• Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and reach from 6-72 inches; frequently lift/move up to 100 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, color, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Constantly works in a cool environment (34-36°F) and is frequently exposed to wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
• Frequently exposed to extreme cold; noise level is moderate to loud.
