Job summary

Gwinnett Technical College is seeking a part-time Educational Aide - Math Tutor to assist students with math concepts and study skills at the Lawrenceville Campus. The role reports to the Developmental Studies Department and is non-benefited and non-exempt under FLSA.

Responsibilities include tutoring, basic lab duties, and keeping records. May work up to 19 hours per week depending on needs and budget.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least 6 credit hours of college-level math courses.
• Excellent oral communication skills.
• Ability to listen and focus students’ attention.
• Ability to explain complex math concepts and coach study skills.
• Ability to work with diverse student backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide oral and written reports as required.
• Assist with daily operation of the computer lab and related clerical tasks.
• Listen carefully to students and offer encouragement and support.
• Maintain a positive, warm attitude that encourages learning.
• Notify staff about changes in meeting times.
• Maintain records/files related to the program’s mission.
