Job summary

New York City College of Technology (City Tech) of the City University of New York invites applications for part-time Math Tutor positions within the Learning Center. Tutors will assist students in MAT 1190, 1272, 1275, 1375, 1475, and 1575, in one-on-one or small groups, and document attendance daily.

Reporting to the Director or Assistant Director, tutors coordinate monthly meetings, provide verification slips, and may perform related duties.

Qualifications

Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks.
Bachelor's degree or above preferred.
3.3 GPA or higher in college mathematics courses.
Ability to maintain a consistent weekly schedule of a minimum of 5 hours for the entire semester.
Enjoy working with people and have considerable patience when dealing with others.
Ability to communicate adequately within the academic discipline.
Tutoring experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Tutor students in select math courses (e.g., MAT 1190, MAT 1272, MAT 1275, MAT 1375, MAT 1475, MAT 1575).
Tutor students one-on-one or in small groups.
Attend monthly tutor coordination meetings and trainings.
Document student attendance daily on a tutor log sheet.
Provide verification slips as requested.
Confer with directors on student progress and challenges.
Assist with other duties as assigned by the director/assistant director.
