City Experiences is seeking a Part-Time Marine Technician for our City Cruises operation in New York.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The Marine Technician is responsible for carrying out daily duties such as repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting marine diesel engines, generators, transmissions, drive trains, HVAC, plumbing, pumps, holding tanks, and electrical equipment. The right person will be skilled, self-motivated, adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT SERVICE SYSTEM.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The Marine Technician must work in a safe, methodical, and consistent manner. Much of this work should be accomplished independently but all work will be under the guidance and direction of the Port Engineer.
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in the company's maintenance software (HELM), entering preventative and corrective maintenance completion, uploading work reports, documentation, inventory control, and all other pertinent information.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable US Coast Guard regulations and sound marine practice.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on vessel equipment including diesel engines, propulsion running gear, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, HVAC, galley equipment, and more.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs for interior finishes, structural components, and maintain watertight integrity and fire protection boundaries.
  • Follow proper pollution prevention, hazardous waste disposal, and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate vessel readiness with USCG inspections, cruise schedules, and site visits.
  • Manage outside vendors and lead crew members as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, promote safety practices, and respond to service calls at various locations.
  • Work hours may include weekends, evenings, or additional shifts as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Training and experience in marine maintenance and repair, with knowledge of systems described above.
  • Possess a valid TWIC or ability to acquire one.
  • Proven hands-on maintenance experience, preferably in marine or facilities environments.
  • Ability to interact professionally with passengers, crew, and vendors.
  • USCG Engineer's License or relevant experience is desirable.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in English communication.
  • Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs, work in tight spaces, and outside in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear safety gear and use hand and power tools safely.
  • HS Diploma or GED, and a valid Driver's License.
