Salary Range: $21-$38 per hour

City Experiences is seeking a Part-Time Marine Technician for our City Cruises operation in New York.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

The Marine Technician is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting marine diesel engines, generators, transmissions, drive trains, HVAC, plumbing, pumps, holding tanks, and electrical equipment.

The right person will be skilled, self-motivated, adaptable, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT SERVICE SYSTEM.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Work safely, methodically, and consistently, often independently under the guidance of the Port Engineer.
  2. Maintain accurate records and participate in the company's maintenance software (HELM).
  3. Ensure all work complies with US Coast Guard regulations and marine best practices.
  4. Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on vessel equipment, including diesel engines, propulsion gear, electrical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, HVAC, alarm and monitoring systems, and galley equipment.
  5. Perform maintenance and repairs on interior finishes, floors, ceilings, and watertight seals.
  6. Maintain watertight integrity and fire protection boundaries.
  7. Manage pollution prevention, hazardous waste disposal, and vessel readiness for inspections and schedules.
  8. Manage outside vendors and lead other crew members as directed.
  9. Maintain a safe, clean, organized work environment, promote safety practices.
  10. Identify parts and spares needs and assist procurement.
  11. Respond to service calls at piers and vessels, including remote work during drydock or layup.
  12. Work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as scheduled.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the Port Engineer or Director of Marine Operations.
Requirements & Qualifications:

Training and experience in marine maintenance, with expertise in preventative maintenance and repairs on passenger vessels. Specific qualifications include:

  • Valid TWIC or ability to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of systems for PMs and repairs, capable of overseeing contractors.
  • Proven maintenance and repair experience in marine or facilities environments.
  • Professional interaction skills with passengers, crew, and vendors.
  • USCG Engineer's License or relevant experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in English communication.
  • Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs, work in tight spaces, and outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to wear safety gear and use hand and power tools safely.
  • HS Diploma or GED, valid Driver's License.
