Job summary

Barrington Area Library is seeking a Digital Services Assistant to provide hands-on digital support for customers and staff at our MakerLab. You will guide users on 3D printing, laser cutting, and other digital tools, helping them troubleshoot and complete creative projects.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, familiarity with makerspace tech, and strong communication skills to assist diverse patrons. Part-time schedule includes some evenings and rotating Saturdays, with PTO benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Familiarity with makerspace technology.
• Basic knowledge of Libby, Hoopla, Adobe Creative Cloud, and iLife preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and guide customers.
• Strong multitasking and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide digital services support to customers and staff.
• Offer technical guidance on apps, software, and equipment (3D printers, laser cutter, vinyl cutter).
• Troubleshoot equipment in Digital Services spaces.
• Complete projects while enhancing customer experience through excellent service.
• Assist with space maintenance as assigned.
• Support staff during MakerLab and Studio programs.
