Job summary

Loyola Marymount University’s Westchester Campus is hiring a Part-Time Sculpture Studio/Lab Technician to support the Makerspace. You will assist students and faculty with machine operation, safety demonstrations, and fabrication, while maintaining tools, inventory, and workspace cleanliness.

The role requires a background in woodworking/metal fabrication, strong customer service, and the ability to lift up to 30lbs and work evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or combined experience/education as a substitute.
• A minimum of 2 years work experience in a lab/shop environment.
• Advanced woodworking and metal fabrication skills are preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.
• Must be able to lift up to 30lbs and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide students and/or faculty with technical assistance in operating general machine shop equipment.
• Perform safety demonstrations and enforce shop protocols.
• Assist with design, fabrication, and adaptation of parts for projects.
• Maintain and service tools and identify equipment needs.
• Keep inventory and shop records and ensure a clean, safe workspace.
