Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living in Avon, CT is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance across our community, ensuring safety and comfort for residents and staff.

You will coordinate with the Maintenance Director on facility conditions, handle chemicals safely, and use the work-order system to manage tasks such as electrical, painting, and carpentry.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate excellent mechanical skills.
• Understanding of safety and chemical handling procedures.
• Ability to learn new maintenance techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform light electrical, painting, carpentry, and general maintenance work.
• Follow chemical handling and safety procedures.
• Operate within the work-order system.
• Communicate maintenance needs to the Maintenance Director.

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team! In this role the Maintenance Technician performs repairs (both minor and major). You will implement regular and preventive maintenance programs that promote a sense of well-being and aesthetic appeal for residents and staff and communicate with the Maintenance Director on the condition of buildings and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Understands the practices surrounding proper handling of biohazardous waste.
• Maintains a clean laundry room in an orderly manner and stores chemicals in accordance with product or supervisor instruction.
• Follows standards and practices for specific chemicals.
• Demonstrates excellent mechanical skills.
• Works effectively within the work-order system.
• Performs general maintenance work (light electrical, painting, carpentry, etc.)

Requirements

• Familiar with emergency procedures if chemicals are misused.
• Demonstrates the interest and ability to learn new skills and techniques as needed.
• Demonstrates proper usage of chemicals and equipment.
