Job summary

Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ is seeking a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) for Behavioral Health Services, Unit A-G, part-time day shift. Responsibilities include psychosocial assessments, direct treatment, case management, and discharge planning within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work from an accredited school of social work.
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW) license must be obtained within one year from date of hire.
• One to two years prior experience required in psychiatric social work or similar setting; three to five years preferred.
• BLS Certification preferred.
• Heart Saver/CPR Certification required.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of a second language preferred.
• Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform screenings, intake assessments and consultations for evaluation of individual and family dynamics and treatment needs.
• Provides direct treatment services to patients within the hospital utilizing individual, family, and group counseling, and crisis intervention.
• Provides case management services to ensure treatment plans are followed and to aid patients in obtaining resources.
• Interprets illness and treatments to patients and families; coordinates with staff on discharge planning.
• Acts as liaison with other departments and community providers to assist in linkages for patients and families.
• Participates in interdisciplinary conferences and educational activities; maintains timely documentation.
