Position Summary

York Country Day School is seeking a part-time Engineering andRobotics Teacher to join our well-established Engineering andRobotics team. The ideal candidate is an independent yet highlycollaborative and creative thinker, comfortable with 21st-centurytechnology and committed to a multidisciplinary approach toteaching. This candidate will have the opportunity to build bothengineering and robotics programming and work in ourstate-of-the-art laboratory space. Candidates must have anexcellent understanding of the developmental needs of students inPreschool to grade 5 and demonstrate a passion for working withthese age levels. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate theability to establish and maintain a rigorous academic program bydeveloping aligned curriculum, setting clear expectations forteaching and learning, and using student assessment data to informinstruction. Supported teachers through collaboration, professionaldevelopment, and ongoing feedback while implementing differentiatedinstructional practices to ensure that all students areappropriately challenged and supported.

This is a part-time position with a work schedule of no more than28.5 hours per week. In addition to classroom teachingresponsibilities, the employee will be responsible for assignedstudent supervision duties outside of class time and will berequired to attend weekly staff meetings.

Essential Functions

• Teach using a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach inthe curricular area of Robotics and Engineering.
• Design curriculum, instruct students, and provide professionaldevelopment for faculty Pre-Kindergarten–5, as related to theEngineering and Robotics program.
• Plan and implement activities that nurture and develop thephysical, emotional, intellectual, and social skills ofchildren.
• Demonstrate the ability to observe children to assess theirdevelopmental level, interests, and needs, and use this informationto facilitate learning and growth.
• Exhibit kindness, respect, and compassion in all interactionswith children, parents, and colleagues.
• Communicate knowledgeably and effectively with parents andcolleagues about students and curriculum.
• Collaborate frequently with both the Director of Robotics andEngineering and the Head of Lower School.
• Fulfill assigned student supervision duties outsideofscheduled class time.
• Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings.

Experience and Education Required

• Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; amaster’s degree is preferred.
• Three years of experience in the Robotics and Engineeringfield.
• Independent school experience is preferred.

• Knowledgeable about current and future trends inPre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 education, including STEAMinitiatives.
